FIBERS AND PU IN COMPOSITE MATERIAL
The LFI-PU (long-fiber injection polyurethane) process is used in the production of high-strength, lightweight parts. The LFI process unit performs three main tasks that are crucial for ensuring the quality of the end product.
- Transporting and chopping the roving
- Mixing the reaction components
- Wetting the fibers with the reaction mix
- Transfer mixing head: Mixing the raw material components in a high-pressure, counterflow injection process
- The flow-optimized geometry of the cleaning piston generates a hollow, hose-shaped material flow
- The glass fibers chopped by the cutter head are forced by air pressure through the cleaning piston into the center of this hose-shaped flow where they are wetted with the reaction mix and, simultaneously, poured into the open cavity
